 Call for applications Gala Rural Youth 2017 / Rural Youth Gala 

Huntingdon, Monday, February 27, 2017 - The organizing committee of the Rural Youth Gala is pleased to announce the eighth edition which will be held next May 11th. This year the Gala is being hosted by Châteauguay Valley Regional High School  in their amphitheater in Ormstown, starting at 6 pm. The involvement of young people in our community will be highlighted.

During the evening, we will have the chance to recognize young people between the ages of 6 and 24 who have distinguished themselves in the following five categories: 

• Volunteering or citizen involvement; 

• Healthy lifestyle (diet or physical activity); 

• School or social perseverance; 

• Environment; 

• Cultural action. 

At the Gala, initiated by the Haut-Saint-Laurent Youth Consultation Table, all young nominees will have the chance to go on stage to receive a certificate of recognition, in front of their families and friends. All who attend will be supporting artistic performances enabling young people in the region to showcase their talents. Nominations must be submitted by an adult from the Haut-Saint-Laurent community (worker or resident). A registration form is available online on the home page of www.mrchsl.com or at www.mrchsl.com/en/youthgala or by email at: galapetitjr@gmail.com 

Applications must be submitted no later than 12 noon on 10 April 2017.

 NOMINATION PROCESS 
 GALA RURAL YOUTH 2017 

In context

Since 2010, the Gala Rural Youth / Rural Youth Gala holds a prominent place in the Haut-Saint-Laurent region. It aims to recognize and reward young people or committees made up of young people who have distinguished themselves in a logic of effort, involvement, perseverance or determination. The adult who is nominating the candidate must indicate the exceptional nature of the application of a young person aged 6 to 24 who has distinguished himself or herself in the following five categories:

• Volunteering or citizen involvement;

• Healthy lifestyle (diet or physical activity);

• School or social perseverance;

• Environment;

• Cultural action.

 

Selection criteria

Applications will be analyzed by a jury composed of 5 people, according to the following criteria:

1- Effort, perseverance and enthusiasm:

- The candidate has changed his / her habits positively;

- The candidate wishes to continue his involvement, his efforts;

- The candidate wants to increase his involvement, his efforts.

2- Time given to the activity: the activity takes place over an extended period (several days, weeks or months).

3- The role played by the candidate:

- The project is initiated by the candidate, with or without support;

- The candidate plays an active role in the project.

4- Effects on the candidate's entourage

- The candidate has developed skills or has changed his / her behavior;

- The entourage has developed skills or has modified their behavior;

- The action of the candidate responds to a need of the environment;

- The candidate has trained other young people or adults in his project.

2016

2016 Rural Youth Gala of the Haut-Saint-Laurent Jenny Régnier-Grosleau and Samuel Beaulieu are Big Winners! We concluded the school year recognizing youth between the ages of 6 to 24 and their involvement in the Haut-Saint-Laurent at this year’s Rural Youth Gala 2016.  The event took place on Thursday, May 19th, with more than 200 people attending the Barberivain Cultural Center in Saint Barbe.  With the theme of royalty, 49 proud young candidates were nominated in 5 differnt categories: Volunteer or citizen involvement, School or Social Perseverance, Cultural Action, Healthy Lifestyle and Environment. Rural Youth Gala 2016

Haut-Saint-Laurent, Febuary 9, 2016 - The organizing committee for the Rural Youth Gala is pleased to announce the 7th annual Gala which will be held on Thursday, May 19st 2016. The event will be held at the Cultural center of Barberivain (Sainte-Barbe Church), 6 p.m. on the evening of the 19st. The Rural Youth Gala will be highlighting the involvement of youth, between 6 and 24 years old, throughout the communities of the Haut-Saint-Laurent.   

On this evening we will get a chance to recognize our youth for their success in the following five categories:

  • Volunteering and citizen involvement;
  • Healthy lifestyle (diet and physical activity);
  • School or social perseverance;
  • Environment;
  • Cultural Action.

Nominations are now open! Nominations must be submitted by an adult member of the community of the Haut-Saint-Laurent (worker or resident). Registration forms are available online on the home page of the MRC: www.mrchsl.com or http://www.mrchsl.com/jeunesse_comite-jeunesse-rurale and must be sent by email at:  galapetitjr@gmail.com. The submission of applications must be no later than April 25, 2016.
