The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is part of the larger administrative region known as the Montérégie and is located in the extreme southwest corner of the the Province of Quebec, south of the St. Lawrence River and north of the State of New York.

To get to the Haut-Saint-Laurent territory from Montreal, follow highway 138; from the east and southeast, follow routes 202 and 209; from the north, through Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and across the St. Lawrence seaway on routes 132 and 201; and, from the State of New York, via six border crossings.
